SMART Boards In The Music Classroom
SMART BOARDS IN THE MUSIC CLASSROOM
Baker, J. (2007). Smart Board In The Music Classroom. Music Educators Journal, 93 (5), 18-19. Retrieved February 18, 2008, from Teacher Reference Centre Database.
Baker (2007), enjoys the benefits of the SMART Board within her music classroom. She finds that being able to easily import many types of information, including video clips, short films and music clips very rewarding and highly beneficial.
Baker (2007), states that, ‘the day that SMART boards were installed, the speed of learning accelerated. The intent of the interactive whiteboard is that all students be engaged’. Baker uses the SMART board for lessons such as American Pop Music and Reel Music, choir classes and for music appreciation classes. Baker feels that the days of using posters and fussing with external media sources are over. Students are very productive with the SMART boards and are very keen to use the board in some capacity or another.
The SMART board can be used with music classroom software, including SmartMusic Finale, and other music writing programs. All students can now participate in a rhythm lesson at the same time without a piece of paper in front of them with is just astounding.
